Now that the snow is gone, I already have a list of things that could use some spring cleaning: the gutters, garage, lawn, and everything left unfinished from last fall.
But we all have a bit of SOUL-CLUTTER that could use some spring cleaning.
Below is a guest post from Cyd Holsclaw (co-host of the Embodied Faith podcast) explaining the SOUL SPRING CLEANING...for BUSY PEOPLE resources (or just download it right now…and start it).
[FROM CYD HOLSCLAW]
I've been convicted lately to do a little spring cleaning. Not just in the house or around the yard, but in my soul.
I was prompted by this jar of daffodils I took home from Easter Sunday worship. I enjoyed their vibrancy for a few days, but slowly they died... and the water got stinky. And for days, I walked past them in the hallway, thinking, "I need to deal with those," and kept walking.
After about a week, I stopped and just stared at them.
"Why am I not dealing with this?" I asked myself.
The best answer I could come up with was that the weather had turned cold and nasty and it was inconvenient to go outside and dump the water and put the daffodils on the compost pile.
Convenience.
Comfort.
These were the things I was valuing enough to cause me to keep a jar of stinky water and dead flowers on display in my hallway.

When I spoke it out loud, it seemed as ridiculous as it sounded. And it made me realize I do the same thing all the time in my internal world.
Just like I walk past the scratches in the paint on the wall or ignore the mold in the caulk in the shower, I can step over the emotional residue and the lagging discipline in my soul. "I'll get to it," I say to myself... but when?
Lately, I've felt like the time is now.
If you're feeling similarly, here is a guide to Spring Cleaning for the Soul for Busy People (PDF). I designed it to take about 30 minutes of concentrated time and effort.
Imagine how good it will feel to get at least one of those "I need to deal with this" things dealt with!
May you experience some new, resurrection life as you invite God to do some soul spring cleaning with you!
Blessings,
